The Gatorade Sports Nutrition Immersion Program (SNIP) matches full-time sports dietitians with ASPDA members interested in gAINING more practical hands-on experience working with athletes and sports programs.
Each fellow will focus on career development under the mentorship of a host sports dietitian. Fellows will receive a monthly stipend. Working in cooperation with Gatorade, SNIP Program Managers match fellows through an in-depth application and review process. Mentor/Host-Sites also participate in an in-depth interview and selection process conducted by a committee.

Eligibility:
SNIP fellow candidates must be current ASPDA members in good standing who earn their RD credential prior to the start of the immersion. Criteria for the immersion programs are based largely on the candidates' education and previous experience.

Eligibility:
Interested SNIP mentors must be active ASPDA sports dietitian members working as full-time sports dietitians in an established sports or performance nutrition program. A potential mentor sports RD must have spent a full calendar year in their current position before applying. Please do not apply to host if you foresee that you may leave your current position within the next year or take an extended leave of absence for any reason.
Interested SNIP mentors who have hosted a fellow (or if another staff member at your same location has hosted a fellow) for two consecutive years must take a two year break before hosting again. Sites who have hosted a SNIP fellow in these years are not eligible to host a fellow in 2026-2027: 2023/2024 AND 2024/2025 OR 2024/2025 AND 2025/2026.
Applications
The host-site/mentor application process for the 2026-2027 class are now open through 11:59 PM EST, November 6. Please review the Host/Mentor Application Guide. Interested mentors must submit an application including:
Detail on the duration of the immersion program and approximate start date
Indication of the ability to participate in a 2-day kick-off meeting held the week of June 8, 2026 (tentatively)
Description of interest in mentoring a SNIP fellow
A letter of support from a supervisor speaking to your mentoring and hosting abilities
Contact information for two (2) individuals that you have mentored
A set of competencies that your fellow will accomplish while immersed in your program. These competencies will need to be individualized for your program if you are selected to be a host mentor. Please be prepared to discuss competencies during your interview
If selected to move forward following the interview process, it is recommended that you submit a short video (less than 90 seconds) highlighting your site and you as a mentor
