Chair: John Ivy, PhD
Dr. Ivy is a prominent scientific researcher in exercise physiology and sports nutrition.  He is chair of the Department of Kinesiology and Heatlh Education at the University of Texas-Austin.
Michael Saunders, PhD
Mike Saunders is a Professor of Exercise Physiology in the Department of Kinesiology at James Madison University. He is also the Director of JMU’s Human Performance Laboratory. Over the past decade, Dr. Saunders’ research has focused on the role of various nutritional interventions to promote improved performance and recovery in endurance athletes. A Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine, he is also a recipient of JMU’s ‘Madison Scholar’ award.
Craig A. Horswill, PhD
Craig A. Horswill is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Nutrition at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) where he teaches and oversees research by students. Horswill joined the UIC faculty in 2011 after working for 16 years in industry as a scientist and manager with The Gatorade Company (Gatorade Sports Science Institute). Horwill also spent eight years conducting research in pediatrics at Columbus Children’s Hospital and The Ohio State University (1988-1994), and teaching and conducting research in the Human Performance Lab at Ball State University (1986-88). Horwill earned a PhD in exercise physiology from the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign in 1986. He did his undergrad in natural sciences/chemistry and an MS in exercise physiology at the University of Wisconsin Madison. Horswill's general research interests include examining the effects of hydration status, nutrition, and dietary supplements on high-intensity intermittent exercise performance; pediatric exercise physiology; and methodologies for assessing body composition.
Jenna A. Bell, PhD, RD
Dr. Jenna A. Bell is a nutrition communications consultant in New York City and the co-author of Energy to Burn: The Ultimate Food & Nutrition Guide to Fuel your Active Lifestyle, and Launching Your Dietetics Career. Bell is also the co-founder of www.swimbikeruneat.com and a 2-time Ironman competitor.
Tom Best, MD, PhD, FACSM
Dr. Best is Professor and Pomerene Chair in Family Medicine at The Ohio State University, Director Division of Sports Medicine, Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Bioinformatics, Co-Medical Director, The OSU Sports Medicine Center, Associate Director, Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship, and Team Physician - The Ohio State Athletic Department. He is also the current chair of the American College of Sports Medicine.
Ellen Coleman, MA, MPH, RD, CSSD
Ellen Coleman is a registered dietitian who also has a Master's degree in exercise physiology. She has many years of experience as a sports dietitian and has written several books in this area. Past chair of the Sports, Cardiovascular, and Wellness Nutrition dietetic practice group of the American Dietetic Association (SCAN) and is a board certified specialist in sports dietetics (CSSD).
Dave Ellis, RD, CSCS
Dave Ellis is past-president and current ambassador-at-large for the Collegiate & Professional Sports Dietitians Association.  Dave has more than 30 years of work in athletics, the first 20 of which were spent in the collegiate ranks before entering private practice (www.daveellisbio.com). In addition to being a Registered Dietitian, Dave is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and a Master Level V USA Hockey coach.
Keith Wheeler, PhD, FACSM
Keith Wheeler is divisional director Global Performance Nutrition, Research, Development, & Scientific Affairs for Abbott Nutrition. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in life science from Otterbein College, Westerville, Ohio. He earned both a Master of Science and a Ph.D. in Nutritional Biochemistry from The Ohio State University. Wheeler is a Fellow in the American College of Sports Medicine and a member of The American Society for Nutrition. He also currently serves on the Board of Directors for the National Alliance for Youth Sports. He is a frequent speaker on sports nutrition and clinical nutrition to health professionals. He has more than 25 publications to his credit in the areas of clinical nutrition and nutrition as it relates to athletic performance.
Steve Hertzler, PhD, RD
Dr. Steve Hertzler is presently a Senior Research Scientist at Abbott Nutrition. Prior to joining Abbott, Dr. Hertzler was a faculty member at The Ohio State University in the Division of Medical Dietetics in the School of Allied Medical Professions and the Department of Human Nutrition. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Community-Medical Dietetics at Viterbo College in 1988 and his PhD in Human Nutrition from the University of Minnesota in 1995. He is also a Registered Dietitian with 3 years of clinical experience. Dr. Hertzler is an author on 18 peer-reviewed scientific research articles and 6 book chapters. He is a member of the NSCA, the ACSM, the CPDSA, and the Sports, Cardiovascular, and Wellness Nutrition (SCAN) dietetic practice group of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Amanda Carlson-Phillips MS, RD, CSSD
Amanda is the Vice President of Nutrition and Research for EXOS. A registered dietitian with a masters in both sports nutrition and exercise physiology, Phillips works directly with the EXOS team of registered dietitians to develop and implement performance nutrition strategies for both athletes and the general population. These strategies are designed to help all types of people use nutrition in the quest to achieve their training, performance, and health related goals. Phillips also coordinates research efforts to help EXOS stay on the cutting-edge of sports science.
