CPSDA Annual Conference - Canceled FAQs

FAQs

I am unable to participate in the live virtual event, May 18-20, 2020.  If I register and pay but cannot attend, will I receive access to recordings of each session?

No.  All presentations will take place live and like a standard in-person conference, will not be recorded nor made available at a later date.

I was not going to be able to attend the Annual Conference in Scottsdale, AZ.  However, I am able to attend the now-scheduled virtual event.  Can I register?

Yes.  The virtual event is open to anyone who would like to attend.  An email with a registration link will be sent out to all CPSDA members in the coming days.

I paid the registration fee for the Annual Conference and want to attend the live virtual event.  Now that the in-person event has been canceled, do I need to re-register for the virtual event?

Yes and no.  Stay tuned for an email from CPSDA Executive Director Amy Freel later this week regarding the options you will have for how these already-paid funds can be handled, including an option to have them automatically applied to registration for the virtual event.

Is the registration fee for the virtual event refundable if I sign up but then am unable to participate?

No.  The registration fee for the live virtual event is non-refundable.  Please plan accordingly if you wish to participate.

The Annual Conference offers so much more than CEUs, with the welcome party, expo hall, banquet, lunches, and more.  Why is the cost of the virtual event still 2/3 of the standard conference fee?

The fee paid by individuals to attend the Annual Conference does not cover the experience they receive.  Every year, for the conference to take place, CPSDA covers more than $175,000 beyond what registration fees pay for.

I was really looking forward to one of the talks that is not being offered this year.  Will those speakers be moved to the 2021 Annual Conference?

We are currently working with those not presenting at the virtual event to identify a date over the calendar year during which we can record their  presentation as a live webinar, to be made available to the membership for CEUs in the months ahead or offer the presentation at our 2021 Annual Conference.

I was scheduled to speak, present a SNIP poster, or host a booth in the expo hall.  What do I need to know?

Speakers -You should have an email in your inbox from CPSDA Event Planner, Lindsey Remmers regarding details and next steps.  If for some reason you do not, please reach out: [email protected].

SNIP Fellows- Look out for an email from Beth Wolfgram and/or Mary Ellen Kelly

CPSDA Partners- Look out for an email from Amy Freel

As a developing RD or RD-to-be, I have heard great things about the Career Center and the opportunity to receive feedback on my resume and/or interview skills. Will the Career Center still be offered this year?

Yes.  Keep your eye out for a post on the listserv from Liz Wluka, CPSDA Volunteer, who will be organizing this year’s Career Center.  Slots for both mentors and mentees will be available for sign-up at times not conflicting  with virtual speaker sessions, and will take place via video call technology.  The career center will only be available for those who are paid registrants for the virtual conference event.

I reserved a hotel room in Scottsdale for the conference.  Do I need to call the hotel to cancel?

If you reserved your room within the CPSDA room block, no.  All rooms within the room block have been canceled.  If you did not utilize the direct link to book provided on the CPSDA website, or did not discuss the CPSDA  room block with the hotel if you chose to call, then yes- you will need to contact the hotel to cancel your reservation (480) 947-5400.  There is not a fee or penalty for canceling hotel reservations.

Will I receive reimbursement for my flight?

Flight refunds or exchanges should be negotiated with your airline.
